The Concert Band Program includes a number of ensembles whose members perform in major concerts and special programs during the school year.
Freshman/Titan Band is our ensemble for incoming students. Initially playing as part of the Glenbrook South Marching Titans in the fall, they perform as the Titan Band for our symphonic season. This grouping allows all freshmen to work together as they learn the inner workings of Glenbrook South and the GBS band program.
Symphonic Band is the second course in GBS band program sequence. It’s composed of sophomores, juniors and seniors who play with the marching band in the fall. After marching season, the ensemble merges with the Concert Band to rehearse and perform musical pieces of medium to advanced difficulty.
Symphonic Winds is composed of students who have attained a high degree of proficiency on their instruments. Members are selected through auditions conducted during the Spring semester. The ensemble begins with the fall marching season and continues through the winter/spring concert season. Their repertoire includes musical literature of an advanced to collegiate level.
The Concert Band is open to all grades and is designed for the non-marching band student. Its members have a variety of skill levels. The Concert Band is combined with the Symphonic Band to perform pieces of medium to advanced difficulty. Through sectional and individual guidance, students are encouraged to develop technical skills at their own pace.
