Hello Band Families!

Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful start to the year! It’s so nice to see everyone back in the band room! All students should now be in their respective google classrooms. If you are having any issues, please let me know. 

Thank you to the Marching Band for a great first standstill performance at the Fall Sports Kick-Off! Great job starting the year with lots of Titan spirit!

Please ask your student for the fee sheet that was given to them when they were fitted for their uniform.

If your student has a leadership position, please make sure that the line item “GBSIL Band Polo” is checked – the cost is $26.

Payment can be made via check payable to GBSIL and dropped off in the mail box in Mr. Boron’s office, or via Venmo:
@GBSIL-Band2023 (code 0850)

Please indicate your student’s name in the Notes field so we can apply the fees to the correct student.

Director’s Notes

Hello Band Families!

Thank you so much to all the students, parents, and staff who helped make band camp a success! It was an incredible week, and you should be very proud of all the work you’ve done! 

Marching Band students: please write in your sets into your music for parts 2 and 3. This will help a lot for putting the rest of the show together!

The Marching Band has been asked to play at the Freshman Orientation Pep Rally this Monday! Sophomore, Junior, and Senior marchers, we need you for a great performance to welcome the new Titans! We will do a quick warm-up at 11am in the band room. We should be done with the pep rally by 12pm. Please let me know if you are not able to attend. All freshman marchers should attend the pep rally and other orientation events as scheduled. 

On Saturday, the Band will be performing at the Fall Sports Kick-Off! We will start rehearsal at 8:15am in the band room. The anticipated end time is 10am. Please wear Blue & Gold (your GBS Band T-Shirt is perfect for this)!

Lockers will be available for use starting this week. If you plan on using your locker, you must bring a lock. If you are renting an instrument from the school, it is not allowed to be in a locker without a lock.

Director’s Notes!

Hello Band Families!

It’s Band Camp Week! We’re looking forward to officially starting our marching band season! Be sure to wear good marching shoes (closed toed, no crocs), pack extra sunscreen, bug spray, bring a large reusable water bottle, and be prepared to be outside for a majority of the day. 

There is a meeting on Friday for all parents and guardians to learn about the program and ways to get involved! After that, we invite all friends and family to come to our preview performance in the stadium. You will get to see all the incredible work the marching band has been doing throughout the week! 

Lockers will be available for use starting this week. If you plan on using your locker, you must bring a lock. If you are renting an instrument from the school, it is not allowed to be in a locker without a lock.

This meeting is a chance to meet board members, find out about volunteer opportunities, and get questions answered.  Topics will include: marching band fees, uniforms, football games, parades, competitions, fundraising,
and much more!


Please join us on Friday, August 16th at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium,
followed by a performance by the band in the stadium at 7:00 p.m.

Band fees will be discussed & collected at the meeting.
Payment can be made by check or Venmo.

Director’s Notes! Hello Band Families!

We had a great first rehearsal on Thursday! We’re looking forward to another fun week with our rehearsal and the parade! If you will be marching with us in the parade, please turn in your permission slip as soon as possible. You can find the tentative timeline for Thursday’s parade here. The pre-rehearsal leadership team meeting will begin at 5:30pm.

You can find the summer schedule here. Be sure to read the information at the top of the page! Band lockers will not be available until after July 4th. If you need to rent a school instrument, be sure to arrive at rehearsal early.

The Glenbrook South Instrumental League (GBSIL) Board Needs YOU! 

We are looking to fill the following position for the 2024-2025 season:

Student Fundraising Co-Chair: 

Organize materials for fundraisers. Distribute materials to band members. Retrieve payments and manage deposits for monies received. Distribute any applicable deliveries to band members. Recruit parent volunteers as needed to aid in distribution of ordered items.

Director’s Notes! Hello Band Families!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Glenbrook Festival of Music! The Glenbrook Festival of Music brought together the musicians from GBS and GBN under conductor Sarah Catt from Elmhurst University. 

Trip rehearsals start this week! Our first rehearsal is Tuesday after school. Please dress appropriately for the weather- we will be going outside for a portion of the rehearsal to march. Also on Tuesday, there will be a meeting for everyone going on the trip at 7pm in the cafeteria. The trip rehearsal schedule can be found here. Any updates will be announced in class, via eblast, and on google classroom. 

On Saturday, the Pep Band will be playing at the Spring Sports Face-Off. Call time is 8:30am in the band room. Please wear Blue and Gold!

Hello Band Families!

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in this year’s Variety Show! Your hard work and energy made the show incredibly memorable. It truly was the BEST V-SHOW EVER! Thank you to everyone who came to the show for showing your support! We hope you enjoyed the show!

We are back this week with all our regular band activities! Monday, we have a Band Student Council Meeting, and we have jazz this Thursday. Also, this Friday, the drumline will be traveling to Springman for their Trimester 3 assembly!

Mark your calendars! There will be a meeting for everyone going on the Orlando trip on Tuesday, March 5th at 7pm in the cafeteria. The trip rehearsal schedule can be found here. Any updates will be announced in class, via eblast, and on google classroom.
