Director’s Notes

Hello GBS Band Family!

We are both thrilled and saddened to share that Mr. Boron is officially on leave through the end of the school year. On Wednesday afternoon, Mr. & Mrs. Boron’s first child, Noah Seth, was born! The entire family is doing well and we wish them the best as they start this new adventure as a family of three!

We are also pleased to introduce Dr. Daniel Brame as Mr. Boron’s long-term substitute teacher through the end of the school year. Prior to his retirement, Dr. Brame served as the Director of Bands at Deerfield High School for 31 years. He is also a GBS Band Alum and is thrilled to be back working with the band program that inspired him to pursue a career in music education. Please make sure to welcome Dr. Brame back to the GBS Band Family!

All band students and families are invited to our largest fundraiser of the year, Jazz Cafe Night. We would love 100% participation from all band families. How can you help?

  • Consider a tax-deductible year-end gift to GBSIL.
  • Check to see if your company matches gifts.
  • Donate items or experiences for our silent auction.
  • Volunteer! We are seeking an underclassman parent to help co-chair this event.

Contact Erin Newman (erinwnewman@gmail.com) for more information.

A note from our Treasurer…..

If your band student has not paid for their black concert shirt, please do so by check made out to GBSIL, cash with your student’s name attached to it, or Venmo @GBSIL-Band2023.

Gift cards can be used for everyday items like groceries, gas and pet food, or year-end thank you cards for teachers and coaches. Thanks to those who are taking advantage of the program.
