Director’s Notes!

Hello Band Families!

We’re excited to start our summer schedule on Monday! We will be meeting in the band room. As you enter the band room, find your section leadership team to check in for attendance! All you need to bring is your instrument and a pencil, and remember to wear shoes that are good for marching (close-toed gym shoes are great; no sandals or crocs). If you would like to bring a folder or binder to store any music and handouts, your are more than welcome to.

We are also excited to share our tentative season schedule. Please note that this is only a tentative schedule, with dates and times being subject to change. Any changes to the schedule, including items marked TBD, will be communicated immediately as information becomes available.

Every year, we have a logo for our marching show that is designed by a student. Any student who would like to design a possible logo is encouraged to submit their artwork! Please send any designs to bboron@glenbrook225.org by 11:59pm on Sunday, July 2nd!  Here are a couple of guidelines:

  1. The logo must say “Data Breach”
  2. It can be up to four colors (one of those colors will be the color of the shirt)
  3. BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN WITH IT!

We’re eager to see what you come up with!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Hospitality Co-Chair Needed!

The GBSIL Board has an immediate need for a volunteer to co-chair the Hospitality Committee!!
Please email current co-chair Kelly Brown (kellykbrown11@gmail.com)
or gbsbandprogram@gmail.com with any questions or to volunteer.

Hospitality Team Leads Description:

Organize band camp meals, Jazz Fest Café and refreshments for the spring band concert, including purchase of supplies, collection of payments, selection of vendors and recruitment of parent volunteers. During Jazz Fest will supervise student and parent volunteers selling food in the cafeteria.

Please consider helping the band program – no experience needed!  Freshmen parents welcome!

From the Chaperone Committee:

Dear Band Family, Happy summer and welcome to the start of the band events. We have a full, exciting, ambitious, and eventful agenda scheduled for this year. As in the past in order to optimize the experience for musicians, parents, and those attending the events, success will depend upon a concerted committed organized effort including, especially parents of members of the band, without whom the band program could not and would not exist at the superior level it is. Based upon the past, it seems though if every family, chose to volunteer at least twice through the entire year, we should be able to fulfill our need without overburdening anyone in particular. This comes with a sense of fulfillment and comradery which develops and grows not only with other band parents but with band members as well. This leads into our request for volunteers to chaperone at this year’s first event, the Glenview 4th of July Parade which will take place on Tuesday July 4th. Please see the link below to sign up. We thank you in advance in making this year a great one.

Sign up here to help on July 4

Summer Prop Design

The marching band will be transforming the field into a digital utopia with infinite possibilities. To bring this to life, we’re looking for students and parents to design large banners and build the frames to hold them on the field.  Anybody with skills or resources in graphic design, banner printing or building stands out of wood/plastic piping,
please contact jakekimball789@gmail.com

Our final concert of the year is coming up on May 4th! We will be holding dress rehearsals after school on May 3rd. The schedule for dress rehearsals will be finalized and published this week.
